A positive approach to relationship management:
An effective relationship and behaviour management policy is one that seeks to support and lead children towards high self-esteem and self-discipline. This occurs when positive and good relationships are formed and high expectations of good behaviour are clearly set.
We aim to provide positive everyday experiences that enable our children to reach their full potential. We aim to make Lift Cottingley a happy and successful place of learning for all within it.
Core beliefs:
Behaviour is a means of communication and it relates to both actions and attitudes in how you conduct yourself and how you learn.
Behaviour can change and every child can be successful
Relationships and mutual respect are crucial in supporting children and families to thrive
An acute awareness of every individual’s needs and circumstances helps us to support in a way that is tailored specifically to them
Teaching children to ‘Stop, Feel, Think, Act’ is central to our approach
A consistent approach to modelling behaviour is an effective way to teach children how to behave
Positivity is fundamental to changing behaviour
Our school rules:
The school rules are to be remembered using the acronym STARS. STARS stands for:
S - Safe
T - Team players
A - Ambitious
R - Respectful
S - Supportive
Safety is our top priority at school, keeping the children safe and teaching them how to keep themselves safe. The letter ‘T’ in STARS is about being a team player, being proud of the school and celebrating successes. Ambitious, represented by the letter ‘A’, shows our aim for all children to be ambitious and aspirational, building resilience and perseverance whilst trying their best.Respectful, the letter ‘R’ in STARS, underpins the school’s ethos. We will continue to emphasise the importance of treating yourself and others with respect. This also links to the British Values and our oracy work following the Voice 21 talk tactics and listening respectfully. Lastly, the final letter ‘S’ in STARS stands for supportive. We are committed to ensure we support all our children to reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
